Virginia Lee Vaughn's Obituary
Virginia (Ginny) Lee Vaughn, born December 26, 1941, went Home to be with the Lord her Savior on March 5, 2017. She was seventy-five years old.
A resident of Punta Gorda for over sixty years, Ginny was well-known in her community for her sunny disposition, the smile that was always present on her face, and her heart of compassion, service, and kindness. Ginny was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, and the recipient of ABWA’s Woman of the Year award. She was well-known for her incredible basket creations for ABWA auctions over the years. She was also a longtime volunteer for the Punta Gorda Historical Society. Ginny was most alive and fulfilled when she served others.
Always ready and willing to help anyone and everyone, Ginny truly cared for others above herself. She dedicated her whole life of unconditional love and support to her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of fifty-nine years, Timmie Gene Vaughn, Sr., as well as her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. Ginny always welcomed strangers as family. It’s quite certain that within moments of entering Heaven’s gates, she most likely knew almost everyone there, and if she didn’t, she wasted no time getting to know them and every detail of their lives. The word “stranger” was never part of her vocabulary.
Ginny is survived by her cherished husband Gene; her only sister Donna; her children, son Timmie and his wife Denise, son Randy, daughter Vickie and her husband Ed, and son Todd and his wife Tina; her grandchildren Loriell, Turner, Brenna, Sabrina, Ethan, and Emily; and her great-grandchildren Kaiden, Kooper, Levi, and Warren; all of whom brought her immeasurable joy. Her family remembers and grieves our dear Ginny with great hope, knowing we will one day be reunited with her in Heaven.
To honor Ginny’s passion for empowering women to pursue continued education, The Virginia Vaughn Scholarship Fund has been set up through the American Business Women’s Association. The family humbly asks friends and loved ones to consider donating toward the fund in Ginny’s honor.
