Sarah McGowan Platt's Obituary
Sarah was born April 17,1923, to Leebertha and Frank McGowan in Zolfo Springs, FL. Sarah met Elvin Platt and was married to him until his passing in 1994. They moved to Murdock, FL where she became a school bus driver for the county, serving the segregated schools in the 1950s. In 1959, her family moved to Punta Gorda. After 25 years of environmental service, Sarah retired and was a reliable child-care provider for many families. She modeled Christ to young people and was faithful to her church, True Holiness Church of the Living God. Sarah is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Stacy Platt; special niece who was a constant caregiver in her final days, Lenora Miller; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her loving church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin; all her siblings, Leebertha, Alvonna and Frank JR.; and all of her five children, Linda, Alvin, Queenelle, Frank and Elvin Jr. Arrangements are by Hickson Funeral Home Of Arcadia, FL
