Salvatore Teobaldo's Obituary
Salvatore Teobaldo, 79, a Punta Gorda, FL resident since 2015, formerly of Syracuse, NY, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in Punta Gorda, FL. He was born November 18, 1939 in Sicily, Italy to Antonio and Rosalia Teobaldo, now deceased.
Salvatore came to the United States with his parents when he was 13 years old. They lived on the north side where he went to school and began hanging out at the local barber shop, where he helped out by sweeping the floors and eventually learned to cut hair. He was a barber for most of his life, over 60 years. He had a passion for collecting postcards. All of the walls in his barbershop were covered in postcards that his customers would send him from near and far. He was so proud of his barber shop, so proud to be a barber, and loved telling his stories. He enjoyed making his own wine every year and even moreso enjoyed having his friends and family over for get togethers and a little bit of his wine. He also loved to travel, visiting Italy several times. On his retirement they left the snow and cold and moved to sunny Florida. Salvatore was a kind and gentle man who would strike a conversation up with anyone, who always had a smile on his face and goodness in his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anna Teobaldo of Punta Gorda, FL; three children, Rosalie Spurlin (David) of Punta Gorda, FL, Pietrina Buechner of Boston MA and Antonio Teobaldo of Port Charlotte, FL; 2 grandchildren, Brian Spurlin and Elizabeth Buechner and 2 great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33907. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2057 Cleveland Avenue, Ft. Myers, FL 33901. Entombment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 27200 Jones Loop Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.
