Russell G. Johnson's Obituary
Russell G. Johnson, 77, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002.
Formerly of Wayne, Michigan, Mr. Johnson had resided here since 1975after retiring from the Wayne Fire Department as fire chief. He was a member of American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5690 in Port Charlotte, Fl, AmVets and the Masonic Lodge in Wayne. Mr. Johnson served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jean H. Johnson; four daughters, Linda (Burke) Johnson of Punta Gorda, Jeanette (Kevin) Swanguarin and Janice (Dale) Sanlor, both of Westland, Michigan, and Cheryle (Carl) Hopper of Romulus, Mich.; a sister in law, June Hall of Allen Park, Mich. ; two nephews, Charlie Hall of Southgate, Mich., Bill Hall of Wayne; and a niece, Judy Oxley, of Skiatook, Okla.,; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
A granddaughter, Stephanie Swanguarin; two adopted sons, Elden Holderness and Milton Holderness, preceded him in death.
