Madeline Maria Smith's Obituary
Madeline moved to Punta Gorda 42 years ago. She was born in Jersey City, NJ to Gabriel and Maria Lambiase who immigrated from Italy to America. She was the second oldest of 11 children.
She received a bachelors degree in Drama and Music at Columbia University in NY. As an opera singer, she performed at many concerts in NY/NJ areas.
In 1954, she married Charles Cahn of NY. He passed away in 1961 after a long struggle with cancer. In 1972, she married Arthur Smith, a longtime friend and business partner with Superior Food Wholesaler and Brokerage. As a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, she became a Eurcharistic Minister and vocalist. She was a loving, caring person who will be missed by all who were part of her life.
She is survived by sisters, Vivian Gough, and Mary Grace Colegero; brother, Anthony (Tina) ;nephew, Arthur (Carmela) Gough; stepdaughters, Sherry Sturm and Collette Stemple; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Smith; brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Alfred and Salvatore Lambaise; and sisters, Elvira Lambaise, Yolanda D'Elia and Margarita Berardi.
