Leonard P. Lucas' Obituary
Leonard P. Lucas, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Oxford, Mich., went to be with his Lord, Sunday Jan. 18, 2015.
Leonard was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Peter and Lucille Lucas.
Leonard retired from Detroit Edison Electric. He came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was a teenager. He was a dedicated member of Peace River Baptist Church. At other churches, he had served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and Deacon, and sang in the choir and church quartet. Leonard served three years on the School Board in Troy, Mich. He loved building houses, and built homes for family members. He collected watches, and enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs.
Leonard is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jo; daughters, Karen (Doug) Hughes of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Kimberly (Ed) Cordrey of Woodstock, Ga.; son, Leonard (Donna) Lucas of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Lorraine Weil of Lapeer, Mich.; grandchildren, Doug, Amber, Adam, Clay, Cole, Jena, Kelsey, Paige and Megan; and seven great-grandchildren.
