Dorothy Pinder's Obituary
Dorothy Pinder, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away, June 17, 2015.
She was born April 11, 1944, in Miami, FLa., to Pollard and Eulia May Brooks.
Dorothy grew up in a loving family with her brothers, Leonard and Herald, and sister, Cheryl. She was a compassionate and loving person who was cherished by her family and friends. Dorothy's story would not be complete without her husband of 48 years, Tom Pinder. They moved from Miami to Punta Gorda to build a home and start a family. Over the years, they would travel making new friends and memories. Their laughter and zest for life was always admired by others. Her husband often said "she was love at first sight". Her love of children made her a magnificent mother. In addition to raising two children, she was also a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and the kissy monster. She was not just a mother to her children, she was also their best friend and cheerleader. She was always there when her kids needed her, even when they didn't know it. As Dorothy transitioned into the role of "Worlds Best Grandma" she would learn the true art of how to spoil her adored grandson. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Words fall short of describing her friendship, kindness, caring, curiousity, and just how wonderful she really was. Nourishing people around her with love, faith, and music, her life's work was centered on helping people. She was a nurse and caregiver for over 25 yeasr. She was active in her church and other volunteer services throughout her lifetime. Her involvement with many organizations including the American Cancer Society, Punta Gorda Rotary & Rotary Ann's, and many other charities let her give back to the community she loved. Her hobies were sewing, painting, music, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to sing and play guitar as well as sing in the choir. She was an accomplished seamstress, often making her own fashions. Dorothy will be remembered as a bright, shinning light to anyone who knew her.
Left to honor Dorothy, and remember her love are her children, Robert (Lindsey) Pinder and Ellen Pinder, along with her partner Brian English and grandson Falem Pinder. She was preceded in death by her parents ; and son, Arthur L.
