David E. Starn's Obituary
David E. Starn passed away on Friday, June 11th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of White Cloud High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 before coming back home to White Cloud and getting into the food business. He co-owned a dairy/deli distribution company, Dewitt Cheese Company, until the early 1980’s. He then started an 18-year career with Kehe Foods Distributors before retiring as VP of Sales in 2000. He was a member of the White Cloud Lions Club and served as a Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts.
Dave loved to play golf and always enjoyed a nice cigar with a Black Russian or a glass of Irish Mist. He and his wife Margaret enjoyed taking many long trips on their Goldwing motorcycle all around the country with many of their close friends throughout the 1970s and 1980s. They also spent many cold Michigan winter days riding snowmobiles with friends and family. Dave was a hard-working man who strived to provide a safe and happy life for his family and will be remembered by all who worked with and for him for is loyalty and leadership.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, E.G. and Elsie Starn and his sister, Bonnie Starn (Betts). He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret; His son Jeff (Julie) Starn of Hudsonville, MI; grandchildren Nick and Emily Starn; brothers Larry Starn (Rose) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Terry Starn (Rosemary) of DeWitt, Mi along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave will be remembered fondly by friends and family in Michigan and in Punta Gorda, FL where he and Margaret have spent the past 20 years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Cancer Society or Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, FL.
The family will be holding a memorial service in Michigan in late August.
