David L. Harney's Obituary
David L. Harney, age 78, of Punta Gorda, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 31, 2020 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. He was born on April 15, 1942 in Elwood, Indiana to the late Kenneth L. and Vera Jean (Imboden) Harney.
David was a talented artist. His talent was apparent from a young age and was developed naturally. He painted beautiful animals, landscapes, and portraits. His painting "Litte Lori" won the People's Choice Award from the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda. During his retirement he found much joy in teaching art to others. He was a popular art instructor at the Charlotte County Cultural Center. He enjoyed working with the students and all the other instructors.
He is survived by two daughters, Lori Harney of Punta Gorda and Debi K. Sisk of New Port Richey, a son, Ricky D. (Kathy) Harney of Zephyrhills, a sister Maureen (Bill) Catron of New Castle, Indiana, three nephews Steven M. (Patty) Harney of Fishers, Indiana and Jason (Michelle) Collins of Piedmont, Alabama, Daniel (Cindy) Harney of Colorado, two grandchildren, Tara (Derek) Holt and Ricky C. Harney both of Zephyrhills, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Steven E. Harney, and his niece Christine Kay Harney-Bryant.
He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
