Bevan Rucker's Obituary
Bevan Rucker of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022 following some recent health challenges. She was 76 years old.
Bevan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 23, 1945 to Jane and William Hay. She graduated from Collinwood High School and then worked at Lincoln Electric Co. from 1967 to 1986 as a Lab. Tech. Bevan married Patrick B. Clarke a Cleveland Police Officer on November 10th, 1967. They loved Boating and belonged to Northeast Yacht Club in Cleveland for 17 years. Sadly, Pat preceded her in death on July 8th, 1985.
Bevan then moved to Toledo, Ohio where she met and married her beloved husband Rex Rucker a retired Marine. They belonged to the River View Yacht Club, were she served as President of the International Satin Gavel. Bev and Rex loved Boating, fishing and golf. Rex passed away on June 10th, 2002.
In December of 2003 Bevan's friends of 40 years Jim and Margie Hoffman moved to Punta Gorda, Florida. She visited them several times and liked the area. She stayed with them for a few months at the end of 2004 while looking for a condo and found one at Fountain Court and purchased it in January of 2005. Bev joined the Punta Gorda Isles Fishing Club where Jim and Margie were members and got involved in offshore fishing which she really loved. She was the 2nd woman to get her Grand Master Fishing Title in 2007 which she was very proud of. Bev loved to swim with the Dolphins on the way to Key West. Her and Rex's ashes will be place in a bronze urn with Dolphins on it and dropped onto the USS MOHAWK WPG 78, a 165 ft. Navy ship that was christened in 1934 and was intentionally sunk in the Gulf of Mexico on July 2, 2012 as a Veterans Memorial Reef settling in 90 feet of water 30 miles off the coast of Sanibel Island, Florida. Coordinates are N26 33.075 W82 43.481. Her and Rex will be together forever and can swim with the dolphins for eternity.
I will miss her greatly, her and Margie were like sisters for 55 years now they are both gone to the Great Fishing Boat in the Heavens I know they will be looking out for me together.
This was written with Love and Sorrow for both of them. Jim Hoffman
