Carol D. Dimauro
December 13, 1932 - September 12, 2015
Caroline Dubinski DiMauro, 82, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, while at home. She was born and raised in New Jersey. Carol was a bookkeeper for Simon Pure Products in the 1960s, and later moved to Punta Gorda full time in the mid-1990s. Carol, Lou and Tom were the proud owners of Karl Ehmers Restaurant in Punta Gorda for many years. On many occasions the restarurant had long lines out the door for their daily 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Early Bird Specials. They featured home-cooked Italian specialties and traditional German dishes. The restaurant was destroyed by Hurricane Charley in 2004. During Charley, Carol's house was badly damaged and she was befriended by Rosey Dennis. She lived with Rosey and her family for three months during repairs to her house. Carol would often say that Rosey, Mike and Lisa, her son and spouse, had "adopted' her. She loved their children, Mia Rose and Malia Lynn. Carol spent the last 10 years of her life having Sunday family dinners at their home, playing with their children, and became a grandmother to them. She was so very thankful for this family, their kindness and generosity. Carol was also very involved with her friends and board members at Buttonwood Village, where she served in many capacities, including bookkeeper and president. She will be remembered and missed by many. Surviving are Lous's children, Anthony, Salvatore and Dianne of Monmouth County, N.J.; Tom's ex wife, Claire, and their daughter, Gina, of Punta Gorda; and cousin, Mary Ann (Joe) Catalioto of Englewood, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; his son, Thomas, also of Punta Gorda and previously of Wayne, N.J.; and mother, Mary.
