Brian Albert Bredfeldt, 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida, quietly and peacefully passed away in the arms of his daughter, surrounded by family, and went straight to Heaven on Monday, July 18, 2016. He was born December 28, 1944, in Merrill, Wisconsin, to John Walter and Adnell (Tatro) Bredfeldt. Brian grew up in Iowa and Missouri, and graduated with a bachelor’s of arts in philosophy and a minor in religion from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1972, and worked for General Development as a computer programmer and played viola for the Charlotte County Symphony Orchestra. He then went to work as a construction superintendent for Sam Broady Construction, helping build multiple Publix and Bennigan’s locations as well as other commercial buildings all over Florida. Brian was a licensed contractor who worked for Charlotte County for several years in mosquito control and then transferred to the building department as a plans examiner before retiring. He was a member of the Charlotte and Englewood Jaycees, a lifetime member of Elks Lodge No. 2763 and Moose Legion No. 58. Brian loved photography, golf, bowling, and most recently learning lapidary at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County. He was also proud to have scored a hole-in-one at Port Charlotte Golf Club. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Linda Dawn (Zoellner), daughters Nicole Noles and Amy Bredfeldt; son-in-law and best friend Robert Nelson; grandchildren Angelique and William Noles and Noah Bredfeldt; sister Karel Burke; brother Alan Bredfeldt; and nephews Jason Burke, Kirk and Dax Bredfeldt. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Lobo and the staff at Florida Cancer Centers in Port Charlotte and Fort Myers and New Hope Chiropractic for their compassionate care during Brian’s illness. He never stopped fighting. The family also wishes to give a profound and heartfelt thank you to everyone who prayed for him over the past year, including members of Pilgrim United Church, New Hope prayer group and countless others. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
